Jesse Ramirez was born in San Angelo, TX and like most musicians, has been surrounded by music since a very early age. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 2011 and completed his Master's of music performance, with a secondary focus in Ethnomusicology, magna cum laude, from the University of North Texas in 2015. While at Texas Tech, Jesse studied under David Brandon, a direct student of Andres Segovia and professional touring partner of Christopher Parkening. In 2009, Jesse participated in the annual Parkening masterclass in Bozeman Montana and was one of 6 participants selected for the public finale concert.
Parkening describes Jesse as a "Performer who uses the entire color palate of the guitar" with a "Very expressive sound."
As an undergraduate, Jesse was involved in the Texas Tech Celtic Ensemble where he participated in Celtic music traditions of tunes, songs, and dance for 3 years. In 2011, Jesse opened West Texas Guitar, where he taught private lessons in guitar, mandolin, and piano to 30 students. He also instructed at Angelo State University in the department of extended studies for classical and commercial guitar courses. In 2013 while starting graduate school, Jesse became a founding member of String Theory Irish, a traditional Irish group along with Nathan Kennedy. The band grew to 5 members and recorded two albums between that and 2020. String Theory also got to share stages with renowned musicians at the North Texas Irish Festival and the Atlanta Irish Festival.
As a performer, Jesse is a well seasoned concert guitarist. Having numerous solo recitals, house concerts, private and public events, Jesse is ready to provide music for occasions such as wedding ceremonies, wine markets, country clubs, and has experience hosting group sessions, open mic nights, and has even been well acquainted with studio work for guitar and mandolin.
